Who is the CEO of Bini srl
Luca Giovanni Bini, chief executive officer and sales manager, tells his work in his own words.
I started working in the company as a boy with my father Ugo, when it was still called Bini Ugo & Figli srl. Every day we drove our trucks along the Porrettana road, through Pracchia in the middle of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, to our suppliers in Bologna to load bales of printed paper, newspapers and shavings… In those years Bologna was overflowing with copies of the Resto del Carlino!
Back then the Via Emilia and the Porrettana were full of family-run taverns serving delicious handmade tortellini with ragù for a few thousand lire. The world moves on, and we too had to adapt to the challenges ahead.
Despite all the effort and sacrifices, the recovered paper trade after the war was truly fascinating. I still remember my father loading paper onto a Fiat 615, a small truck loaded by hand that some of our long-standing suppliers still remember. It was so popular that it was called “the truck of the economic boom”.
“What I like about my work is its dynamism and unpredictability.”
In almost forty years of work I have seen the recovered paper market change suddenly, through ups and downs. My greatest professional success has been seeing our family business pass fifty years of history.
Today it is hard to picture my company over such a long time frame, because the market keeps evolving; but I hope our name will continue to be respected thanks to the fairness and good reputation we have earned with so much effort and hard work over the years.
“You must work with a great sense of duty, always respecting others.”
And this is exactly the value I try to pass on to my children: you must work with a great sense of duty, always respecting others, even in a market as competitive and aggressive as recovered paper.
